Therapeutic Boarding Schools Are Effective, But Not Always the Best Option for Troubled Teens from North Dallas, TX
Therapeutic boarding schools have often been used to treat troubled teen’s conditions. But how often does treating the problem this way result in undesired affects? Oftentimes, the teen will lose touch with their family and feel as if they were abandoned and un-loved. Should struggling teenagers be sent far away from their home in North Dallas, TX? We don’t think so.
I.O.P. – A More Ideal Situation for Teens from North Dallas, TX
These solutions were inadequate for us here at Waterford Academy, so we sought to find a better alternative by implementing an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program for teenage boys and girls, or as we like to call it, a “Therapeutic Day School.” We found that when the teen stays with us during the day to receive their treatment and education, then going home at night is crucial in their rehabilitation. Maintaining a good family relationship is key in a long lasting recovery.
Waterford Academy knows how difficult of a time this can be. If you are a parent of a struggling teen and are looking into treatment for your child, please don’t hesitate to call Waterford Academy for a free consultation. We can be reached at 866-439-0355.
We here at Waterford want you to expect the best possible treatment. We seek to help the family understand the child’s condition by having family therapy sessions. Knowing the process helps the parents relate to the circumstances, helping the child feel loved during the process. It is our goal to maintain the love that you have provided them, while they receive the necessary treatment.

North Dallas, TX North Dallas is an area of numerous communities and neighborhoods in Dallas, Texas. The phrase “North Dallas” is also sometimes used to include any suburb or exurb north of Dallas proper within the metropolitan area. The majority of North Dallas is located in Dallas County while a small portion is located in Collin and Denton County. North Dallas generally includes areas of Dallas north of Northwest Highway, along with Lake Highlands and areas of Dallas north of IH-635 known as Far North Dallas. The area has strong social and economic ties to the Dallas enclave of Park Cities, and two inner suburbs of Dallas, Richardson and Addison. It is the wealthiest part of Dallas, but also has its adjacent, yet scattered rough parts as well.
Do you feel that your teen has problems with alcohol? Kids who drink regularly also often have problems with school. Drinking can damage a student’s ability to study well and get decent grades, as well as affect sports performance. They also put themselves at risk for obvious problems with the law.
North Dallas, TXAre you using the computer as your child’s reward for good works? When TV and computer use is used as a reward, young people are at an increased risk of becoming addicted or attached to them. It then will be harder to motivate your kid to engage in other activities, such as reading and social events.
As Dallas has grown over the last several decades the concept of “North Dallas” has changed from the area just north of downtown, along Central Expressway (where North Dallas High School is located), to the far northern reaches of Dallas proper and the suburbs to the north of the city.
