DeSoto, TX – DeSoto is one of the oldest settlements in North Texas. It was in 1847, just eleven years after Texas won its independence from Mexico, that families first settled in the area that is now DeSoto. Curtis Parks, one of the first settlers in the DeSoto area, built his home in 1847. He came from Indiana with his wife Amelia. A few of the other early settler families to the area were Thomas Cheshier, Zebedee Heath, Otway B. Nance, Allen Q. Nance, F. M. Hamilton, and John P. Voorhies.
By allowing your teen to fail and not fixing their problems for them, you can help them build confidence. If they need you to help talk the problem through, ask open ended questions so that they come to their own conclusions. You can role play different scenarios if it helps your child find their own answer, but allow them to find the answer that’s right for them.
DeSoto, TX – Adolescents with binge-eating disorder typically are overweight or obese. They feel like they have no control over their behavior, and eat in secret and when they’re not hungry. They also feel shame and remorse over their behavior. If your child is hiding food and you’re finding excessive amounts of food containers or wrappers, this could be evidence of binging.
The City of DeSoto was honored to be named an All-America City by the National Civic League at the finals for the prestigious award in Anaheim, California on Sunday, June 11th. Each year, cities across the country apply for this prestigious award but only ten cities receive it. For several years, the DeSoto City Council included an initiative in its Business Plan to develop an implementation plan for pursuing All-America City status. In the 2006 Work Plan, their goal was to be acknowledged by the National Civic League with the All-America City Award.
