Therapeutic Boarding Schools Are Effective, But Not Always the Best Option for Troubled Teens from Frisco, TX

Therapeutic boarding schools have often been used to treat troubled teen’s conditions. But how often does treating the problem this way result in undesired affects? Oftentimes, the teen will lose touch with their family and feel as if they were abandoned and un-loved. Should struggling teenagers be sent far away from their home in Frisco, TX? We don’t think so.

I.O.P. – A More Ideal Situation for Teens from Frisco, TX

These solutions were inadequate for us here at Waterford Academy, so we sought to find a better alternative by implementing an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program for teenage boys and girls, or as we like to call it, a “Therapeutic Day School.” We found that when the teen stays with us during the day to receive their treatment and education, then going home at night is crucial in their rehabilitation. Maintaining a good family relationship is key in a long lasting recovery.

Waterford Academy knows how difficult of a time this can be. If you are a parent of a struggling teen and are looking into treatment for your child, please don’t hesitate to call Waterford Academy for a free consultation. We can be reached at 866-439-0355.

We here at Waterford want you to expect the best possible treatment. We seek to help the family understand the child’s condition by having family therapy sessions. Knowing the process helps the parents relate to the circumstances, helping the child feel loved during the process. It is our goal to maintain the love that you have provided them, while they receive the necessary treatment.

Frisco, TX – When the Dallas area was being settled by American pioneers, many of the settlers traveled by wagon trains along the old Shawnee Trail. This trail was also used for cattle drives north from Austin. This trail later became the Preston Trail, and later, Preston Road. Preston Road is one of the oldest north-south roads in all of Texas. With all of this activity, the community of Lebanon was founded along this trail and granted a U.S. post office in 1860. In 1902, a line of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway was being built through the area, and periodic watering holes were needed along the rails for the steam engines. In 1904, the residents chose Frisco City in honor of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway on which the town was founded, later shortened to its present name.

Did you know that teen drinkers are more likely to get fat or have health problems?  Kids who regularly have five or more drinks in a row starting at age 13 are much more likely to be overweight or have high blood pressure by age 24. And those who continue drinking heavily well into adulthood risk damaging their organs, such as the liver, heart, and brain.

Frisco, TX – To motivate your teenager, place a list of the chores and who is responsible for each chore somewhere the entire family can see it. The refrigerator is a good place. This will serve as a reminder for your child every time he walks by it, reducing the chance that he will forget to complete his chores.

On August 13, 2013, the City of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District announced a partnership with the Dallas Cowboys establishing Frisco as the future home of the Cowboys world corporate headquarters and training location. A multi-use special events and sports facility, to be developed on a footprint of approximately 20 acres, and the Cowboys world corporate headquarters on a footprint of approximately 5 acres, will be the centerpiece of additional mixed-use development on property surrounding the team’s new location.
