WATERFORD ACADEMY
Are Group Homes Effective for Troubled Teens from Texas

Viveri Youth Services – Group therapy session
If you’re the parent of a troubled teen from Texas who is looking to get help for their child, Waterford Academy will provide you and your child with the necessary tools to learn how to live a healthy life. Because we are an outpatient program, you can monitor the progress your child makes on a day to day basis, unlike group homes and other similar programs. The teenage years can be some of the most difficult years your children will face. When children start to develop their independence, they rely more on what their friends say and think versus what you have to say as their parent, and it can (and usually does) lead to some dissension. Often, they will turn to drugs and alcohol to try and fit in, but it never leads to anything good.
Waterford Academy provides partial day treatment, a partial hospitalization program, an intensive outpatient program, and a therapeutic day school utilizing The Bridge School curriculum. Waterford serves troubled teens and their families from Dallas, Richardson, Plano, Irving, Grand Prairie, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Carrolton, Addison, Parker, Murphy, Rowlett, Garland, Rockwall and Mesquite, Texas, as well the surrounding areas of these cities.

Helping Struggling Teens from Texas Change Their Lifestyle
Studies have shown that once Texas teens fall into the trap of drug and alcohol use, it’s extremely difficult for them to get out of those habits. That’s why group homes are remarkably successful in helping those teens get back on track.
There Are Better Alternatives to Group Homes
We provide an environment where people near Texas who have struggled with substance abuse (among other behavioral issues) can focus on healing and recovery. We work with your child to help them set goals and make plans for a better life. To take the next step in your child’s recovery process, please contact Waterford Academy by calling 866-439-0355.
Texas – Is a large state in the southern U.S. with deserts, pine forests and the Rio Grande, a river that forms its border with Mexico. In its biggest city, Houston, the Museum of Fine Arts houses works by well-known Impressionist and Renaissance painters, while Space Center Houston offers interactive displays engineered by NASA. Austin, the capital, is known for its eclectic music scene.
If you want your child to succeed, look for how they react to pressure. While many teens get along fine with dozens of things thrown at them, others might react totally opposite and shut down their dreams and their feelings. Most do this because of their fear of failure. Let your child know that as long as they do their best, it’s okay. It’s only when they don’t try, they fail.
Texas – Texas has a reputation as being the place where the Old West begins. So it’s easy to understand why some people are surprised to find more than 600 miles of sparkling coastline here. We’re also home to the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. It’s true. So if you’re looking for a stretch of beach to soak up the sun and the surf, we have a “little” room for you here.
Do you feel that your child is struggling with an eating disorder? Binge-eating is characterized by uncontrollable, excessive eating, followed by feelings of shame and guilt. Unlike those with bulimia, teenagers with a binge eating problem typically don’t purge their food. However, many kids who have bulimia also have binge-eating disorder.
